Some of the popular blogging platforms are; WorldPress.com, Blogger.com, Tumblr.com, Medium.com, Sbvtle.com, Quora.com and there are many more blogging sites but these are the most popular and regularly used blog sites. For example WorldPress.com's platform powers nearly 19 percent of the web and has been downloaded more than 45 million times.

A blogosphere is simply a term for all the millions of blogs interlinked together on the internet. Its just like searching on the web except you search throught the millions of blogs which has peoples views on subjects of their choice.The term was first used as a joke in 1999 but then became the word to describe all the blogs that are conected to each other.

A few big companies that use blogs are;
- Dell (http://en.community.dell.com/dell-blogs/direct2dell/b/direct2dell/default.aspx)
- Starbucks (http://www.starbucks.co.uk/blog)
- BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/)
- Amazon (http://aws.typepad.com/)
- Adobe (http://blogs.adobe.com/)
- Lenovo (http://blog.lenovo.com/)

The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger[9] on 17 December 1997. The short form, "blog", was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999.
